DREAMS Kick-off meeting: getting the project started

Artículo Ana Fernandez

During the 2nd, 3rd and 4th of December 2019 staff from Associació La Xixa Teatre (Spain), Agrupamento de Escolas do Barreiro (Portugal), CESIE (Italy), Istituto Comprensivo Statale Cassarà - Guida (Italy) and Escola L'Esperança got together to meet in person, and to kick-off the DREAMS project after three months of preparatory tasks.

At the meeting, partners discussed their vision of the DREAMS project, the relevance of the project to each organization, expectations regarding project results and each partner shared information about their schools and territories. Partners got a taste of the project methodology using embodied activities and facilitated debates surrounding the topics of diversity, identity and early school leaving. Project timeline and work on project outputs (best practice report, teacher handbook and family booklet) was agreed upon and scheduled, and project administrative tasks such as dissemination, evaluation and management were discussed.

Our Portuguese and Italian partners got a chance to visit L’Esperança School, and together they all shared the different challenges posed by the project. For example, the differences among the three educational systems where the transition happens at different ages: in Italy and Portugal the transition is 14, while in Spain the transition happens at 12/13 years of age.

We were all happy to meet and excited to begin the road ahead with our DREAMS Project!
